Peaches, Peaches, Peaches

Yesterday, Aunt Jennifer, Papa, and I canned peaches. The entire table and island were covered with peaches. The night before, when asked Papa said that we would get 42 quarts. If you saw all of the peaches you would understand that it was a bogus number. But, if you know Papa, you would understand that there are no bogus numbers. As an after thought, we figured out that we canned exactly 42 quarts!! Don't know how he does it. In the next few days we should have another 50 or so quarts to do. Anyone for a peach pie???

Steven Curtis Chapman Family

2 1/2 Months ago I posted a prayer request for the Steven Curtis Chapman Family for the death of their five year old daughter. By only God Himself, I was able to watch the two interviews that the family did last week. Although it brought back so many feelings that I have tucked away, I was so blessed by the wisdom this family shared. Even if you have never lost a young spirited child/sister, you can gain insight into how to grieve with others.

Watch Out World

Today we had Cole's 2 month well-baby checkup and Chad's 4 year appointment.

Here are the stats:
Chad - 40 lbs - 80th percentile
42 1/2" - 95th percentile

Cole - 25 1/2" long - over the charts (1 1/2" longer than both Chad and Kaylee at this age)
13 lbs 4 oz - 95th percentile
15 1/2" head - 50th percentile

Watch our world. These are two big boys!! I am just glad that I didn't go full term with Cole!

Cole - 2 Months Old

Cole turned 2 months old today. He is growing like a weed and super strong. He continues to roll on his side and pivot 180 degrees on his tummy. As you can see in the picture, Cole pushes his head up really well.

Saturday night was our longest sleeping period. Cole went 7 hours. Mommy had gotten pretty frustrated with his every three hour wakings but realized it was her own fault! She wasn’t following the “schedule” and was letting him sleep too long during the day. If Mommy would just do what she is supposed to do!! Also this night, Mommy and Cole had their first “talk”. Cole cooed with large smiles and Mommy answered back with proud grins.

Reading

Chad and I were talking about how we are going to start "school" again in two weeks. We were discussing how he was going to work on letter sounds so that he can read soon. Chad said, "So I can read my Bible."

More First

Last night was Cole's first night in his crib. He did really well, only waking up once. But the real prize goes to Chad. When I asked how it was to have his baby brother in the room with him, Chad said "He was a little fussy but I just closed my ears."

Today was Cole's first bottle. Since we are going to be traveling soon, I wanted to get him started. Chad and Kaylee both had their turns at this. Video links:

August 2nd

This morning, the kids fingerpainted. Kaylee hasn't had much experience with paint and tried to wipe it off of her fingers. By the end of the session, she had paint from head to toe.

The pool water temperature got up to 93. Not too refreshing in this heat wave we are having. Michael added some cold well water which dropped it to 90. I like it but I am a wimp in the "cold". In the evening the water temperature is warmer than the air.

Cole started really smiling yesterday. Of course I couldn't get him to smile for the camera though. He has quieted down. Not near the grunting that was occuring. Cole probably figured that is was pointless to try to get a word in with Chad and Kaylee always talking or singing. Poor little man.
