Construction Day 50

Today marks the 50th day for actual construction. This doesn't count days that they got rained out or non-work days. Today was pretty exciting! We had a big list of things to accomplish today and were very excited to get them all finished!

For excitement, we moved into the toy closet. Chad and Kaylee helped me move the majority of the toys out of their rooms. They were very hesitant to start but soon dove in deep.

They had so much fun carrying the boxes.

And putting toys on the shelves.

Daddy got the tour after he came home from his bike ride.

Afterwards, the kids just wanted to stand in the closet and play all day.

The tile man finished laying all of the tile on the floor. There was also little white tile laid around the shower and under the old window in the kitchen. He will come back tomorrow to grout it.

Finished! You can see the white tile under the shelves (old window) that was done also. (BTW - I LOVE our tile!!!! Either it is really nice or it is just so much better than that awful green that I don't care!)

On sad note, we just had our final meal in the entry way. Okay, not so sad. We are thrilled!! Tomorrow morning we will eat breakfast in the dining room. Oh those little things!! As Kaylee said, "Thank you JESUS!"

Construction Day 49

Today was a big day. Thankfully we escaped half of it in the peace of Aunt Rhonda's. We got to eat a real meal and I got to wash my clothes in a real washer and dryer!! Go figure! The kids had fun playing with cousins and I enjoyed the adult conversation and encouragement Rhonda provided.

The plumber finished - we have running water!! No one has tried out the toilet yet but the curriosity is there. I really like the faucets and happy with how the sinks/shower turned out.

The electrician finished the bedroom, laundry room, and hallway. He will finish up on Monday.

The tile dude (as Kaylee calls him) ran out of tiles. He thinks that he is 1 1/2 boxes short. Pray that they have enough to finish in the warehouse tomorrow. Supposedly he is to be here at 8:00 to finish laying and do the grout. Bar any issues, he will be done and we can move our table back to the dining room on Sunday morning!! I assure you this will be done before we eat breakfast. We will wait to move the appliances until the countertop is put in on Monday. The tile layer also has tiles to place around the shower and under the old kitchen window. Hopefully he hasn't forgotten and will do that tomorrow too.

Monday will be another full day - electrician, countertops, heating/air, and insulation. Everything should be finished and ready for inspection Tuesday. After inspection, we can move in the washer and dryer!!!!!! On Wednesday is the carpet with Thursday being the painters to touch up. Friday we can totally move in.

Sorry, no pictures today. I am tired!

Construction Day 48

Yesterday, the tile layer finished the new part of the house. It looks really nice. Today he will lay the old part of the house and grout it on Saturday.

Today is a really busy day with the plumber, electrician, and builder all here. The plumber should finish. The elctrician will take another day (Monday). Then the big inspection!!!!

This has been Kaylee's room for the past couple of months. She told me one day that she couldn't take a nap because it was a mess in her room. No kidding! Yesterday I put away the canning jars in my canning cabinet and that did help a lot!

This is the pile of electrical items going up today and Monday. We need over 45 bulbs for all of this! This pile has been in our room.

Also, the top came for the bathroom. What a surprise!

Made the appointment for the carpet next Wednesday!!!!!!

Construction Day 45 cont.

Yesterday almost totally finished the painting and staining. With the wet weather that was coming in, the walls didn't dry as fast as they liked so they will finish the red wall this morning.

Construction Day 44

Painting and staining is taking place. It is taking a while longer than we hoped but it is moving ahead. The staining is finished and the doors are being painted today. The painting will take into the next week.

Hopefully our countertops for Tuesday. We are on the books for tile on Wednesday and Thursday. Then plumbing on Friday. Best case scenario, we can move in a little under two weeks. That will leave the drive way and yard work for the first part of October.

Pictures later.

Construction Day 40

About 11:00 the guys started taping and covering things. It took about 2-3 hours before the stain began to go on. Love how it looks. Can't wait to see the cabinets!

Cole

At 15 months old, Cole is developing into a little boy who knows what he wants. He can hold his own with his siblings as well! Blocks and tractors are his favorites but he loves to be outside. Hopefully very soon we will have our yard back so he can go outside more. He shakes his head yes (though it is more of a waist to head shake) and says "uh huh" when he wants something but shaking the head "no" is creaping in more and more. Cole loves playing in the sand pile left from the bricking.

Construction Day 39

With the construction coming closer to a end, I have been very busy meeting with subs to finalize tile, carpet, lighting, paint, cabinet tops, etc. So, I am late posting!

Bathroom cabinet

Laundry Room - South Wall

Laundry ROom - North Wall - washer and dryer and then a sink goes in the cabinet by the door.

Coat closet off of the garage

Canning Pantry in the old laundry room.

Paint start Monday. Please pray that they can finish in a week. It will be tight. If things go right the following week, we hope to have tile, countertops, plumbing, and electric and then the final inspection. If everything works out we could be moving some rooms in 2 weeks!!! Lots of people have to be available exactly when we need them though.

Construction Day 36

We just got home around 12:30 today from Grams and Papa's house. We had a great time but are tired from the activities and anxious to get home and see the progress. When we left on Thursday, everything was on schedule except for our cabinets. By Thursday afternoon, the trim order was cancelled and reordered! This has put us about 3 days behind where we wanted to be. Finish trim this week. Cabinets on Friday. Paint on Monday! Hopefully tile a week from Monday.

Before we left, we planned out the shelving for the closets. This is the Master Bedroom with rods along the side walls.

This is the playroom closet.

Doors in the new playroom.

We now have a refrigerator in the entry way. We ate supper in the living room. But, I guess why not? We have a washer on the back porch!

While we were gone, they removed the tile in our kitchen and dining room. We are SO excited to be rid of the green little tiles. Wish we could have done the whole house though...maybe another time!

French doors in the play room.

New front door!!!! It will be stained.

And the biggest change of the day....
As much as I loved what it held, I am SO glad to be rid of the glass cabinets in the kitchen. No more having to bend over to talk to people!!!

Labor Day Weekend

Here are a few Labor Day pictures that were taken at the farm.

Construction Day 34 Cont.

We were pretty excited to get the garage doors in!

September 5, 2009

Construction Day 34

Today was a big day. Doors, closets, and trim! The rest of the doorways were also cut out and plywood taken down. It really looks like one house instead of two. We can really see how it is going to look. Also learned that Cole wants to go everywhere - now that he can.

Mr. B is working on the closet shelving. The first doorway goes from the old garage to the laundryroom and on into the kitchen. The second doorway is the old door from the garage and is now a closet. The third door is the waterheater. It used to be a 5ft door.

The kitchen cabinets are all covered up for dust reasons as they are taking out the tile in the kitchen and dining room.
