Tomorrow is a big day for Michael. He hits the mid-30's. 35 to be exact. Crazy old! We still think we are both in our 20's until we hit the bed exhausted each night and realize we are getting older!
Michael: Birthday boy himself. He is preparing for a century ride in October. Not going for a trophy this time, he isn't pushing the training as hard. Nice for the family but hoping he won't pay for it around mile 75 of the race! He is working very hard to find a bike for his other half so she can join the family on bike rides.
Heidi: Things have calmed down for a bit. Ramping up for a city meeting the first of October. Praying that the truth would be known and that we can return back to small-town life. Praying for wisdom to know when to sit and when to fight. Work has slowed down a little but think that has to do more with my perspective than anything. Still going to the post office a lot which is a blessing. Tomatoes finally took off a couple of week ago. Lot of green ones but they are having a hard time turning. It has been a huge blessing to be able to carpool to school again this year. Unlike last year when I did all morning driving, this year, I drive three mornings and two afternoons. Love the mornings that I don't have to drive!
Chad: I really like 1st grade and my teacher. Reading and math continue to be favorites and I enjoy showing my family what I have been learning. Last week I read a really big book to Mom and I felt very proud of that. At recess I play basketball so have been practicing shots at home to get better. I still enjoy riding my bike and helping with big, adult things except for anything that would be classified under the "work" category.
Kaylee: I. Can. Not. Wait. for my birthday to come in a few weeks. I have been asking my mom when I am turning five for the last five months. A party has already been planned with invites sent out. Finally I won't have to say that I am 4 1/2 anymore. I am super excited to go to school and want school supplies for my birthday. Every outfit that I wear - that I like - is going to be my outfit for the first day of school. I continue to be Mommy's little helper and take this role very seriously. I started back to "school" last week at church (Mother's Day Out). I really like the class and the kids that are in it with me.
Cole: Mommy and Daddy say that I have been doing a little better about making good choices. Instead of constant bad ones, I am currently having more good choices than bad choices. This is a step in the right direction. The carpet continues to be my place of disobedience but my parents are hopeful (and prayerful) that I will quit doing this soon. I can write my name with only a few clues. I love school time and helping with the flannelgraph Bible stories. I tell my parents all of the time that I am going to obey. I really want to but just get tempted and distracted.
Cason: Kaylee thinks I am doing lots of things. I will just babble and she thinks I say sentences. I flinch and she thinks I do things with my arms. I do say ma ma ma a lot and throw in a da da too. This weekend I signed "more" for more cheerios. Drawers are fun to pull over and dump but I sure don't like it when I accidentally close my fingers in them. I have developed an adorable giggle that I let fly at random times. Interestingly enough, I do my own thing and don't worry to much about what the big kids are doing. I am starting to cruise along the furniture and push my walking toys around. But crawling is still my choice method of movement.
