| Our Christmas picture |
February 6th - Yesterday was the 11th day of school missed for the kids. 11 days plus Thanksgiving and Christmas break means we haven't been to school much and definitely struggled to find a school routine.
But I am very thankful that we have a schedule at home for those days. The kids immediately slip into "home" mode which makes it so much easier.
Chad. After a rough (horrific) few weeks (and a week of that Michael was gone for work) he is doing great. What a difference it has made to have him be focused and able to find the words he desires. He is so much more in control of his emotions. He continues to be improving in his reading. And through the daily Skype tutoring sessions from Grams, therapy, and what we do at home, he is on or close to grade level at school. He had his first big-boy sleepover last weekend and had a wonderful time. He came home and begged to go to sleep though.
Kaylee. Sweet Pea has been battling strep month after month. So in two weeks she is going to have her tonsils removed. Momma is apprehensive about this but knows she can't continue to have strep. After finishing her 1000 words for school, Kaylee had her first piano lesson. She is really enjoying this time with Mommy and learning very well. It is interesting listening to her practice. It has opened my eyes to a new side of teaching piano. She continues to love "teaching." She plays with the new supplies she received for Christmas with much gusto. Meals times have been different for her as she can't get enough to eat. She is packing on the calorie even eating 10" of a Subway sandwich. With this has come a huge growth spurt. Even taller than before.

| From October, sorry about the lack of cropping. |
Cole. Little Man is maturing a little each day. We are seeing improvement in his impulse control and emotions. Not to be caught off guard, we realize that behavior cycles but we are enjoying the season God has given us right now. Cole is super excited to begin soccer this Spring. This means 3/4 of our kiddos will be playing. On New Years Eve he decided he wanted to learn to read after trying to read the directions for a new popcorn popper we received for Christmas. He is doing very well. Not a lot of self motivation when there are Legos that could be played with but he obliges so that he can play afterward. Cole loves to spend his free time playing computer games. Often times you will find him in his room listening to Adv in Odyssey episodes. He quotes entire scripts after only hearing the story a couple if times. He throws in different segments of scripts into everyday life too. Makes for some pretty funny conversations since I know where the quotes come from. He is enjoying TKD and is very proud of his green belt.
Cason. Peanut is becoming quite the big boy. He can put away groceries, make his lunch for church, clean up a room, and gather trash like a pro. At least when he wants to. He claims "I can't!" or "Help me!" quite a lot. He has learned the Kaylee will help him when he is feeling lazy. Cason loves to help me cook but watch out because if you turn your back, he may add and begin stirring in an extra stick of butter. (Lesson learned!) During school time, he is learning the last few basic shapes. He is becoming interested in letters and numbers. Reading is still a favorite time. He loves the Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Williems. Of course Mr. Putty and Tabby are picked often. He continues to talk about his best friend Eli with extreme gusto. He will even tell us that his name is Eli. He loves to go to church just to see this little friend. Lately he has been telling me, "I didn't have a good day." His explanation usually has something to do with Eli and fueled by a wild imagination. Cason is super lovable and we have the best conversations. He has a huge love for Cole and wants to do what he is doing. Unfortunately Cole doesn't appreciate the worship most of the time. This brings about Cason following some very bad things too. Cason told me tonight "You are crazy" and it wasn't in a nice tone. Hopefully he will quickly learn to only follow positive characteristics.
Last weekend we purchased a camper because we are crazy that way. We are super excited to have the roads clear so that we can bring it home and have some trial runs before we take it to the lake. We are making plans and learning what we can from YouTube and the internet. We'd love to have you join us on our summer excursions!
