German Pancakes

I had these for the first time on choir tour while I was in college. I loved them and found a recipe. Now our kiddos think that they are divine. I make 1 1/2 batches in a jelly roll pan for our family of five. We usually have 2 pieces left.

Ingredients
6 eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

1.Place the eggs, milk, flour and salt in a blender; cover and process until smooth. Pour the butter into an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish; add the batter. Bake, uncovered, at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes.

2. Dust pancake with confectioners' sugar; serve immediately with syrup.

I do have trouble with these sticking in the pan. Any suggestions from fellow Germans???

Cinnamon Roll Recipe

Mouth watering??

I decided to start posting some of our favorite recipes. My kids are always asking Grams to make them cinnamon rolls. Here is her "easy" bread machine recipe for wonderful rolls.

Harvest Cinnamon Rolls

1 cup milk (heated approximately 1 minute in microwave)
1/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F.)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
2 eggs, room temperature and beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
5 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon vital wheat gluten (optional)*
3 teaspoons instant active dry yeast

If you go to the website, they have wonderful instructions on making these rolls!

Enjoy!

Nothing Safe

For a few days now Michael has told me that Cole can open doors. I didn't believe him as I thought the door was just not latched. Well, I am wrong.

Cole can officially turn door knobs. If you are thinking, "just use the safety knob covers...", nope! He can open those. (BTW, Kaylee hasn't figured out those yet.

Windows

What takes 4 adults three hours? Hanging windows on the wall!

Take heavy wooden windows that need to be on the studs and remotely centered and you have a quite a task.

But we finished thanks to Michael's parents and I am really excited to have the windows up!

(The picture makes the windows look a little weird but I think that they look good in the real view!)

Playing in the Leaves

The weather has been so beautiful that the kids have had a lot of outside playing time. They really enjoyed the leaves.

Cole the Reader

Cole has become quite the reader. Of course all of this reading is done by himself but he loves to get up on the couch with a book.

And yes... we have lost the battle. We fought the good fight but Cole is a blankie thumb sucker. For the most part we ask him to take it out during the day (he uses a paci at night) but Michael had to get a picture first (this time). His favorite blankie is actually the quilt that Aunt Faye made for Chad. For some reason, Cole latched it up.

Construction Day 60

A week ago today was what I call the final day of work on the home. 60 Total days. It finally stopped raining long enough for Mr. C and Mr. B to finish the dirt work. We got in a load of top soil and gravel. This morning, the kids helped me sow grass seed, rake it lightly, and water it. Now we hope that is grow quickly!

Poor Mr. B never did a job without a helper...

or a supervisor.

Load of gravel.

60 Days of work! Crazy to think how far the house has come. People often say, "I bet you are loving it." Oh my, there are not words to describe!

Where Did We Go?

Wondering where we went? Well, as most of you know by now, we have been attached by the little piggies. As of this morning, we are 5 of 5. Thankfully Mommy is on the mends so Daddy can be sick. Pretty pathetic home but we are making memories together. Thankfully our neighbor picked up some things for us at Walmart! Thank you Melissa!

BTW - In support of all pig farmers, it is not really the little piggies, as we know that this was a wrong diagnosis several months ago by some over paid scientist. Go eat pork!
